My journey into this work began long before PosAbilities had a name. As the mother of Grace, a young woman with developmental disabilities, I experienced firsthand how difficult it can be to find programs that not only meet basic needs but also nurture potential, creativity, and belonging. I didn’t want Grace—or any individual—to be limited by what society thought was possible.
With a background in education, Applied Behavior Analysis, and business, I set out to create something different: a place where therapy, learning, and community are not separate, but part of one whole. A place where families feel supported, staff feel inspired, and individuals with ID/DD feel seen, heard, and empowered.
That place is PosAbilities Center—a community where every person has the opportunity to discover their strengths, build meaningful connections, and live a fulfilling life.
PosAbilities began with a simple vision: to create a place where individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (ID/DD) could grow, learn, and thrive in ways that truly reflected who they are. What started in 2019 as PosAbilities Academy, an alternative to traditional high school for my daughter Grace, quickly grew into something much greater. Families asked for more—more opportunities for their children, more support, and more programs that integrated therapy, education, and recreation.
In 2020, we expanded to include PosAbilities Clinic, offering Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) therapy and, later, Therapeutic Consultation services. As Grace reached adulthood, we realized the need for a safe, purposeful, and engaging place for teens and adults with ID/DD to continue building skills and connecting with their community. That vision led to PosAbilities Pathways, our day support program designed to promote independence, vocational readiness, and community involvement.
Now, we’ve brought it all together under one name: PosAbilities Center.
At PosAbilities Center, we provide a continuum of therapeutic, educational, vocational, and recreational programsin one cohesive environment. We believe that individuals shouldn’t have to navigate multiple providers or separate systems to access what they need. Instead, we’ve created a home where services flow together—therapy supports learning, education prepares for work, recreation fosters belonging, and vocational training builds independence.
